If you turn a blind eye to frustrating stealth and puzzle section of this game, you might find a decent action game with decent story.

Despite some truly gorgeous visuals on now last-gen hardware and satisfying combat mechanics that feel as Castlevania as 3D gameplay could ever hope to get, Dracula gets hampered and hogtied far too frequently by poorly executed stealth. These mechanics have no place in an experience that, without them, could have totally satisfied your bloodlust.

Sadly, enemy design and the fights themselves aren't up to much, often requiring the same tactics over and over to defeat your foes. Each seems to ascribe to one of two default modes: turtle or rush, and despite your offensive options there's not much joy in fighting them. Figuring out your opponents is the heart of any combat game, but here they're neither smart enough to pose an interesting challenge nor dumb or numerous enough to make you feel like, well, Dracula.

That’s ultimately the problem with Lords of Shadow 2. This shambling monstrosity is composed of chunks from other, better games. Rather than blend them together into something new like its predecessor attempted, this one just feels like a patchwork mess. This is a disappointment for fans of the first game, and for people who were looking forward to playing Castlevania from the perspective of Dracula.
