This game masterfully balances simplicity and challenge, engaging the Wii U in a way that will make it rewarding even if you’ve already played on another device. The utter stillness of the environment keeps you on edge as the macabre creatures of yore add a dose of discomfort or terror when you least expect it.
I’m gonna say this is probably the best version too as the visuals look great on a big HDTV, along with the haunting sounds through a stereo, and the all those extras features on the GamePad. At $6.99 this is a steal. Yes, the controls are not at all intuitive, but don’t let that keep you away from such a haunting trek in the woods.
Those who've played the game already may find little reason to pick up another version, but anyone who's missed out so far has little excuse not to dive in now. Set aside an evening and dim the lights: Year Walk is worth the trip.
