Mini-games with varying degrees of enjoyment really took away from the experience, and during my time with the game it only took a couple painful mini-games in between the good ones to sour the mood for this reviewer on more than a few occasions. Though there is some fun to be had, the game lacks the refinement Nintendo is typically known for and the result of such is a game that can vary from enjoyable to mediocre at varying times.

Wii Party U’s lackluster presentation and occasionally boring game modes are but hiccups in an otherwise decent party booster. Its impressive GamePad minigames are sure to keep your guests entertained, and will extend the life of the game even after all your friends have gone home. Offering a solid selection of games, modes, and challenges, Wii Party U is a solid addition to anyone’s Wii U library, whether or not you party a lot.

Wii Party U has no rhythm, and you won’t realise just how crucial that is to a party game until it’s gone.
