While Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight is weak on content, the game does a great job at celebrating the absolutely stellar soundtrack of the third entry in the iconic JRPG series. It’s an easy recommendation for hardcore Persona fans and a great reason to dust off that PS Vita one more time. I personally had a blast with the game and am excited to next get my hands on Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight.
While I still don’t know that the world needs dancing games based off of the Persona series, it’s obvious that Atlus could do way worse than Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight and Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight. Both games show clear effort in terms of visuals and animations, and if there’s any RPG franchise with soundtracks you’d want to groove to, it’s Persona.
It feels a lot less grindy and a lot faster-paced, all while retaining the ridiculous premise, lovely dance sequences, and smashing soundtrack. Yes, it's bloody weird, and yes, you're getting a little less bang for your buck, but honestly, stripping back the original game so much has made for a much better experience. Now get out there and dance.
