Despite having some mildly-annoying issues, when all is said and done CastleStorm manages to blend gameplay elements that should just not work into a perfect storm. As addictive as it is charming, it will grip your attention and seduce you over and over again into playing just one more game. Superior in every way, If the controls were a bit more accessible I would have no issue declaring to the masses that this is the Angry Birds killer, but as of right now it will have to settle for the thinking man’s (or woman’s) alternative.

This is a unique game. It takes the fun demolition aspects of Angry Birds; adds in a dash of ground combat, a pinch of RPG leveling and castle making, and a helping of fun multiplayer to bring you a sleeper hit. Strategy fans are going to have endless hours of fun playing with or against others online. The single player depth is lacking but this is, first and foremost, a multiplayer game.

CastleStorm has plenty going for it. There’s an entertaining story accompanying a decent-length campaign, there’s a handful of multiplayer options, and strategy is required if you’re going to play against another person. A better way to select units to send out to battle could have been devised, because it can get really easy for all the tasks you have to do in a battle to become overwhelming.
