For their latest installment of their yearly American football celebration, EA is feeling generous. Like the Xbox, current owners of the game on the PS4 will also get a free upgrade to the grand surprises of its PS5 version. With the luck they’re having on the current-gen, though, that seems like the least they could do. Coming out on Launch day.
Based on a franchise built on going big, it's gonna be amazing to see the iconic Avengers strut their stuff with all of the PS5's enhancements. With 4K resolution, high speed SSD and near non-existent load times, the next-gen Avengers experience might just be like the movies. There’s no release date yet, but current PS4 owners will be treated to a free upgrade once it arrives.
11. NBA 2k21
There hasn't been much change in the series for a while, but we're hoping things look up in the next-gen. While players will carry their progress over to the PS5, owners of the base game on the PS4 won't be entitled to a free upgrade. Shell out at least 70 dollars, or make the Black Mama edition purchase, and you'll get access to the sweat-dripping action when it comes out later this year.
It's easy to think of this as another Call of Duty title, but it seems that Activision has put the effort to do things differently in their first entry for the next-gen. With the 12v12 Combined Arms mode, players will get new, larger maps and some new weapons and vehicles to play around with. The impressions aren't exactly positive so far, but we'll see it out on the PS5 on November 13.
After the success of their jaunts around Egypt and Greece, it's time for Norse myths to take the spotlight in Ubisoft's latest AC title. Always known for their gorgeous, expansive open worlds, this Viking takeover will be one of the first titles we'll get on the PS5 as it releases on November 17th.
Releasing just weeks shy of the PS5 launch, Legion has plenty of promise on both generations. And with the free upgrade, PS owners can easily get access to both. Taking four years to return, this could be Watch Dogs most ambitious project yet. Giving owners of the PS4 version access to a free upgrade, it's expected to launch officially on November 24.
Rising from the ashes of its former Gods and Monsters moniker, Immortals: Fenyx Rising is set to serve us with the promised dose of Greek mythology. Delivering it with wondrous cartoon visuals, it’ll be a treat for fans of Breath of the Wild’s visuals and adventure gameplay. Not exactly a launch title, it's set to release on December 3rd.
16. Dirt 5
Its PS4 and Xbox One counterparts may have been delayed, there's nothing stopping us from experiencing Dirt 5 on launch day. On the PS5, Dirt 5 comes with the option of playing the game in ultra-smooth 120 fps. Owners of the PS4 version will get a free PS5 upgrade as improvements are set to roll out later this fourth quarter.
We're used to being wowed by our next-gen choices but quiet confusion is also a perfect response to this upcoming indie title. About a world of edible bugs and interesting mutations, this weirdly adorable adventure game is a refreshing addition to the roster and it's coming out this holiday season.
Bloober Team is bringing back their 2017 cyberpunk horrors to the PS5. After being bogged by technical issues when it first released, it will be interesting to see how this remaster will improve the experience. It's set to release this fourth quarter.
Looking like a mix between Gears of War and Destiny, this Square Enix entry is a third person shooter set in a dark sci-fi universe. The production value of their characters and locations is clear but we hope their weapons and gunplay deliver the same punch when it comes out this fourth quarter.
This installment of the Rainbow Six series has shown remarkable longevity. There's still a lot of surprises for us in Rainbow Six Siege, and we'll experience all of that along with the next gen's 4K and 120fps support. Not much is clear yet, but with a slated 2020 release, we'll certainly get more details soon.
We’re getting a deep dive into classic duo’s sci-fi action in this sequel to their 2016 reboot. Not only will be taking down new enemies in new alien worlds, we'll also be getting a lot of interdimensional travel, all of which seem to flow seamlessly on the PS5's powerful SSDs. No release date yet, but it’s expected to release around the time of the console’s launch.
First released on the PC in 2016, Planet Coaster isn't just coming to the PS5, but given the vastness of the rollercoaster empires they've allowed us to build over the years, we know it's gonna be amazing to get up close and personal with our rides and our new nitpicky but nevertheless beloved patrons. It's coming out sometime at the end of this year.
The crossover party game is making a jump to the PS5 with this new sequel. Aside from the multiplayer fun, there's also gonna be a story-driven campaign in this entry for solo players to go on a blocky, blobby adventure. Buy it on the PS4 and you can expect a FREE upgrade on the PS5.
Remedy put themselves in hot water for their decision to limit the free next-gen upgrade to this 40 dollar edition which includes the base game as well as their two expansions. After Remedy confirmed that current owners of the base game and its DLCs won't get their PS5 upgrade. Hopefully, things cool down before the game’s official next-gen debut later this year.

The World Rally Championship is back and it's taking us on a ride around the landscapes of Japan, Kenya, and New Zealand in breathtaking high definition. It's already making its run on the PS4 which means you can play it on launch day. Plus, current PS4 owners can look forward to a free upgrade when it officially comes out on the PS5 later this year.
Another unlikely marriage, Bridge Constructor joins forces with the Walking Dead to give us a zombie game rooted in physics-based construction. With a live action trailer for now, it's not exactly clear whose side we'll be on in this apocalypse. Releasing this holiday season.
