Animal Crossing: New Horizons

This game is great... but it's not for me lol. Everything about this title is fantastic. I've never played Animal Crossing before, but I must say, it is certainly enjoyable. A few "quality of life" features are lacking, like crafting in bulk. But despite this, it absolutely shines as the best "sandbox" game I've ever played. Nice graphics, cool music and easy gameplay. But I can't play it the amount I'd want to. This game is extremely time consuming, and someone in college as myself can't afford to waste hours and hours building an island. Keep this is mind, if you don't have time, you won't be able to see everything this game has to offer. So this is my review. A incredible game, but one I'll not play anymore, for I don't have enough time to enjoy it slowly and steady, as the game demands. But if you have time to waste, get this game rn, 'cause it's a true gem on the switch.

Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom

I was hyped for this one. I grew up playing Monster Boy on emulators - because living in Brazil means you're not getting old school consoles anytime soon - so the nostalgia came kicking in when I first heard of the kickstarter. The game did not disappoint, although it kinda seemed too much like an indie game. I'll try to explain my reasoning. Owlboy, Undertale, Hollow Knight, Iconoclasts, Celeste and Bloodstained are all indie games. But they did not have a drop of that incomplete indie feel to it. They were super original. This game was not. It seemed like a fan recreation of an old MB game. A good one, yes, but that was the aftertaste. Of course I enjoyed the game, the story was good, the gameplay too and the music and cutscenes were the best touch in my opinion. But maybe, another coat of paint over this game would have made it an AAA when it comes to metroidvanias. Besides that, my only complaint about the game was the insignificance of the sidequests and completion. There's really little to no incentive to completing the game, and even the rewards for doing that are not worth your time. And there are sidequests, but they are so irrelevant you don't even want to embark on them. So, this is my overly nitpicker review of this game. And I'm not being ironical or mistaken with the rating, for me it's really a 8.2 but with a lot of mistakes that should be corrected. And come on, even a small patch or update could have corrected most of them. Godspeed!

Yeah, I liked it, and no, I wasn't expecting more from it. Thankfully, Nintendo learned from its mistakes - praying this happens with Paper Mario too - with Dark Moon and we have back many features we liked in the first game. Like the portrait ghosts. I thought at first the game would be pretty bland, but no it's not, although I would like more "common" enemies, for there's only five or six types. The boos are completely skippable - I think I found only one in my entire playthrough, while searching every nook and cranny. And the "sidequest" of collecting the jewels gives a reward that I found out to be very disappointing, but I will not spoil it if you want to discover by yourself. The gameplay is quite accurate, the music was on point and I absolutely loved the graphics. I wanted the game to be a little more spooky. You know, it's a Mario game, not a Lovecraft horror novel, but even this games has a few mild jumpscares, so, why not include more? All in all, I think it's a great game and should be played by anyone with a switch.

This game is pretty good and enjoyable. Although it is quite a small playthrough, it keeps throwing new challenges at you, as you slowly master the controls and gameplay. And there's even post-game content, which gives great replay value to it. The music is the best, as it is the focus of this game, and the controls are extremely precise.

Welp, I was expecting a lot more from this one. Sure, the graphics are incredible. For real. But, the game was kinda laggy when going from one area to another and this was pretty lame. But for me the greatest disappointment was the lack of stuff. There was absolutely nothing added to this version that wasn't in the GBC game, and this one was already pretty empty. This made my gameplay a lot less interesting.
