I played Bayonetta 2 first & loved it. I then found I also loved #1. It’s full of action. It’s made me more of a hack-n-slash fan (didn’t really care for these games in the past). The enemies are interesting & varied. They also change up the gameplay with vehicles, vertical play, etc. The bosses can be challenging- but in a good way- manageable. The story isn’t much to really care about- but this isn’t a story-driven game. It’s really good at what it is- a great action game! I can see playing it again! I highly recommend!

It’s totally awesome to have Aiden Pearce back in Watch Dogs! I loved Watch Dogs #1- the best out of the series. It’s also great to have Wrench back from WD2. This is a better approach to a story than the main game. Having one or two key people instead of playing as anyone really makes the game & story better. You actually care about the characters. The missions are pretty interesting. They give you something different from the main game. My main critique is that it’s too short. I would have liked to have seen 10-15 hours for the main story. But it’s a DLC- so we take what we can get. You can also then play as Aiden or Wrench in the main game if you buy the full Season Pass. This was a great tie in to the past in the series & I’m glad I spent the money to be able to play this. Definitely recommend.

Everyone seems to love Gears 5, and I liked it pretty well overall. There is plenty of action like all Gears games. Lots of shooting aliens. They attempted some open areas in the game- which I really didn’t care for too much. I especially hated the “skiff” in the snow & desert. Every time I came back to get on it- it wouldn’t work! I had to reload my save & try again. Very annoying. Some of the chapters were very long & the game could have moved ahead at a quicker pace. Overall, I liked the game- but I’m not sure if I’d play it again. I really don’t see the campaign having much replay value.

There are definitely pros & cons about this game. Pros- The game does look good- even on the Switch. It’s not top-notch 4k, but the graphics are pretty good. There are a lot of good courses to choose from. The career mode is pretty good. It presents a pretty wide variety of tournaments and courses. There are rivalries & sponsor contracts to pursue. There’s also pretty good player customization. You can create just about any type of player & clothing, etc. You can also create your own courses. This is a bit challenging on the Switch- and I don’t know if it’s better on other machines. Cons- The number 1 con for me is that you have to have an internet connection to play. I recently tried playing on an airplane and it would not let me play the game. This is very limiting and annoying. The number 2 con is that when you hit it in the fairway rough they only allow you to use a 5 iron in terms of hitting for distance. This is not realistic at all for PGA players who could easily hit woods from the rough for much greater distances. The 3rd con is that every once in a while it will randomly cause you to shank it short- and often into the water. I’m hitting exactly like I do all of the time- but it just randomly shanks it on me. Overall though, I like the game and have fun playing it. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than say Mario Golf Super Rush. This is the first golf game I’ve played in probably 10 years and I would recommend it as long as you are aware of some of the cons- especially having to have an internet connection to play.

This is definitely one of the best-looking games of all time- looks like a good Pixar movie. The 3D audio with the PS5 Pulse 3D headset is excellent!- especially in the city areas. I did find the adaptive triggers to be a bit annoying at times when I just wanted constant shooting. There’s a great opening full of action. The ending is also good & full of action. It definitely will lead to a sequel. But the middle part gets a bit repetitive. I started dreading going to the different planets because it was always the same activity. The enemies are not varied- especially mini-bosses which are exactly the same every time. I’m not the biggest fan of the Clank puzzles- although they were something different. I did have fun most of the game, and I can’t say I hated it. It didn’t feel as much tailored for just kids as the 2016 game. Only took me about 10 hours to complete- without going for Platinum. Overall I think it’s a good game- and a great showcase for the PS5. I’d recommend it if you can get it on a good sale.

Simply put- I hated Biomutant! The narrator is annoying and they use a stupid baby language like “mooma” “popsi” etc. Hated that! It stunk not finding a needed suit for the environment like the no-oxygen zone. The story is really lame and wants you to choose going for the light/good side. Although it looks open-world it’s really pretty linear with waypoints to next events. It has extremely long load times if you die on PS5. I did think the game environment looks really good. And I thought the combat was pretty good. But those are the only positives for me. It’s not really a AAA game. I’d say don’t waste your money or wait for a major sale. It’s earned the poor reviews & I definitely don’t recommend!

ME3 ends the trilogy on a good note. Although I like ME2 better, there’s a lot going for #3. It has more action than the other two games. It also has many improvements- such as graphics, gameplay, and little elements like being able to use the omnitool to bypass doors, jumping across gaps, etc. Bioware was at its height of game making with this one. I must say the characters in #2 were much better except for Liara. Most people don’t like the ending, but I don’t mind it- especially with the extended cut. This rounds out the Legendary Edition well- and it’s a must to play all three games.

Bioware has come through for fans with this Legendary Edition of the best video game trilogy of all time. They greatly improved #1, and #2 & #3 never looked better. It’s great to have all of the DLC included. It was a great experience playing all of them back-to-back, did it in 6 days. I didn’t realize how much I missed these games. This is a great collection- that includes ME2- my 2nd highest rated game of all time!

Mass Effect 1 Legendary Edition

This is the first time I’ve played the full game of ME1 in 2021- but I’ve played #2 & 3 many times in the past. I liked #1 quite a bit, although it’s a bit short. There’s only a few main missions. It definitely adds to the Mass Effect story. There’s a bit too much time in the Mako, and too many elevators. The gameplay is much improved to be close to #2 & #3. The graphics are better- except human’s faces in cutscenes. Overall I liked it pretty well- it was better than I thought. I will play it again the next time I want to experience the Mass Effect world.

Mass Effect 2 Legendary Edition

Simply put- ME2 is one of the best games of all time! In my top 5. Shepard is at her best in this one. It’s great building your crew and going on loyalty missions for them. There’s such a wide variety of missions- never gets boring. It’s a great action rpg. There are great boss fights- but the worst enemies for me are those darn husks! It builds up to a great ending mission- although it stinks losing some of your crew. The 4k graphics look great- especially in several face models like Thane. It builds well off of ME1 and leads well to ME3. It’s the best in the series by far- but you should play all 3 games to truly experience the ME world. I’ve played this many, many times- and I highly recommend!

RE8 is technically a sequel to #7. However, #8 doesn’t have the horror focus. I didn’t find any part to be scary. This is a pure action game- FPS. It’s good at being an action game, but I missed the horror. There are a better variety of enemies than #7. There are some puzzles- but they are quite easy- and I’m not the best puzzle solver. Like most RE games there’s quite a bit of backtracking. There are several twists and turns that I didn’t see coming- that was probably the best part. Although the ending had some over the top components- I found it to be satisfying. It’s a short game- only took me 6hours 39minutes first time, 2nd time took me only 4.5 hours skipping most cutscenes. Doesn’t seem to be worth the money. It does imply a sequel after the credits- but not with who you might think. Overall I’d recommend it if you like action/shooter games. But if you want horror, then it’s not going to fulfill that need. Didn’t really see a PS5 difference- not many opportunities for ray-tracing. But graphics in the castle were stunning. I didn’t think it was nearly as good as #7. I’d give it an 7/10 or 3/5.

Before the Storm is the best LIS right behind #1 and 10 times better than #2. It’s more interesting playing with Chloe and Rachel than it is with Max (although I still love #1). The story of two rebels in the making is really cool. It shows how Chloe developed before the events of #1. There’s no time bending, but there are lots of choices to make. If you want an emotional story with lots of choices this game is for you. It holds up well even 3.5 years later. Also has a great soundtrack like all the LIS games. And the extra episode “Farewell” is a nice finish to the Max and Chloe story. If this is Deck 9’s best than there’s hope for LIS True Colors. Definitely recommend BTS!

They portray a pretty realistic brother relationship- especially at their ages. I did feel the story dragged on in different places. I often just wanted them to get to Mexico already. I wasn’t sure if I liked Valhalla at first. It seemed kind of slow in the beginning. Some of the quests weren’t too exciting. But after I got about ½ way through it- it became more fun and interesting. I played the all the main quests, Asgard and Jotenheim. I only played one mystery and one world event. Need to check more of those out. It took me 63 hours to play what I finished. I raided all the main raids but still wasn’t able to fully boost my settlement. So you have to seek out more regular chests in the world than I did. I wish I knew to save many of my materials until later in the game- especially to boost health, upgrade weapons, and upgrade my arrow quiver. I didn’t like the present day stuff- wish they’d just abandon that altogether. But it wasn’t that much of the game. The most difficult boss for me was Goodwin. It took me quite a while to finally beat him. He was harder than Basim or Fenrir. I did not seek out the Sisters- so I can’t speak to them. Overall I ended up feeling quite happy with the game. I’m glad I spent the time with the game that I did. Granted, I loved the first AC games much more. But this is a great game by itself. I’m hoping the DLC expansions will be just as good. Overall I recommend it if this is your genre of games!

I first tried this on PS4 and it was unplayable. Then I tried on PS5 and it was better- still a few crashes- but better overall. The story is the best part of the game- although I didn’t care for the ending I got- didn’t seem to go with the rest of the game. I liked the gameplay pretty well. I only played the main story and one or two side missions- and I finished in about 12-13 hours or so. Still think the graphics weren’t great on PS5, and the world seems barren in terms of number of people and cars. I used the mantis blades the most in terms of weapons and they’re pretty unbeatable. Overall I’d recommend it for at least one playthrough on next gen consoles or high-end PCs- not on PS4 or Xbox One.
