Untitled Goose Game

It took me a while to finally get this game. It rarely goes on sale on the eShop (as of the writing of this review, it's on sale!).

Here are a few of my thoughts about the game:

  • I love the art style and sound design. For such a funny game, it's quite low-key, which I appreciate. It's a meme game disguised as a calm goose simulator.
  • The level of difficulty is perfect for this kind of game. Some tasks are so easy, some tasks require a bit more creativity. Nothing ever feels impossible. You just need to observe the NPC's behaviors a bit longer.
  • It's funny. There were a few moments that I really would laugh out loud while playing.
  • It unleashed a level of evil in me I did not know was there. I'm sorry that I am not sorry for all the things I did to that kid with the plane.
  • This game is quite short -- which isn't so bad, but I wish they released DLCs and expansions. I want to annoy more people in the game!
  • There were a lot more fun things you could do in the game that were not in the "to dos" like <SPOILERS> helping that old man play that ring game, or harvesting all the carrots, or delivering parcels and letters.

Honestly, I really want more. It's such a short game that the price feels steep... but I hope this would help fund for another game in the series? Pleeeaasseee?

I've had this game on my switch FOR MONTHS but have only now gotten around to playing it. I LOVE IT.

What I love:

  • The art style and animation are so great. It's beautiful and nothing ever feels clunky.
  • The music and overall sound design are also beautiful and calming. It fits perfectly with the game, most of the time.
  • The story is great. I find myself getting attached to the spirits I help.
  • Controls are great. My errors are mostly on me.

What I don't love, but I also don't really dislike:

  • The gameplay. I get that this game is supposed to be chill, but I really feel absolutely no pressure that I will die during an event. These are the only times I think the sound design doesn't really mix well with the game. The music during events is kinda extra. It never sounds bad, but it sounds more sinister than the actual level of danger my character is in. Still, this is supposed to be a chill game so I don't hate it.
  • There are some tasks that feel a bit more tedious. For example, I'm supposed to play music for the plants to make them grow faster, but I never actually did it again past the tutorial because it went on longer than I'd like. It's not a bad mechanic, and it makes sense... it just wasn't for me.

What I dislike:

  • I don't really have anything to put here, haha

The idea of this game is a LOT OF FUN! You basically try to give the longest answer. Your answers pile up and if you have the lowest, you’ll sink and be eaten by sharks.

What I liked:

  • Really fun premise
  • Easy to understand, easy to play
  • The range of answers the game accepts is great! It’s fun to exploit.

What I didn’t like:

  • The ads are INSANE. They’re everywhere.
  • The implementation isn’t the best in my opinion. If you have a solid early game, especially once you realize the exploit, it’s easy to dominate the game.
  • I wish it would reset every round. That would make it more challenging. Better yet, have different modes!

Got this game on sale a few months back. I kinda forgot I had it, to be honest. Then, one day, while waiting for something, I figured, why not.

There's no dialogue but it has incredibly pretty visuals and chill sound design. 10/10

In this, you walk around as an old man, and the game is you trying to manipulate the world so you could overcome obstacles and get to places. It's a pretty simple puzzle game. I craved for something a little bit more challenging because, after a while, it got a bit boring. 5/10

At its core, this game has a good story. It's a cautionary tale of trying to balance life and career — something I'm sure a lot of us can relate to in today's hustle culture. Unfortunately, I felt it was a little bit lacking. The ending went by too quickly for me. 7/10

I see people call this as the love child of Animal Crossing and Don't Starve -- and it pretty much is that but even cozier and much, much less stressful (so far, at least).

I was intrigued by this game when I saw the art style and the premise (you're a girl scout helping ghosts in a haunted island -- but not as spooky as it sounds).

The characters you meet in this game are well written. I find a lot of the dialogue actually really funny, and the visuals did NOT disappoint.

I've been playing it everyday since it's release. I also stream this game some days on my Twitch channel: twitch.tv/reynisraine

The best way I can describe this game is that it is a supplimentary game. By that I mean, it's best enjoyed everyday in little chunks (because it's designed that way).

I like playing this first thing in the morning, or just before I sleep because it's actually so dang cozy. It's nice to wind down to this game after a long day at work, or if you want a pallete cleanser after playing hardcore in a different game.

I bought it on the switch, but it is also available on Apple Arcade, where I suggest you get this game instead of on the PC or on bigger consoles. I hope it comes out on Android too soon!

If you plan on buying this game, I suggest buying it in Mexico region where it's around 50% cheaper than the US region.

I'll update this review the more I play the game.

I was addicted to this game at one point. This is a resource management card game with a dangerous cult vibe twist.

What I loved:

  • The art style and sound design are spot-on. I loved how all the cards look and how they're so easy to read. This could become a real card game.
  • No ads. Nothing to pay for as well.
  • It can be quite challenging but never punishing. The gameplay is quite fun.

What I didn't like:

  • Spoopy Squad hasn't updated this game since before it was launched.
  • Once you get all the gods, there's no point in continuing.
  • No cloud save. Every time you reinstall it, you're back to 0.

If there's one thing to wish for it's that I wish the Spoopy Squad comes back. Their debut title is so great. At the very least, could they please release this as a physical card game? For now, I'll leave my recommendation for this casually evil game.

This is my first Warriors Game. As a BOTW fangirl, this was really a change of pace for me. I think the gameplay fits the story well even though I can't say I'm a 100% fan of it. (On a side note, my boyfriend really enjoyed the gameplay. To each, his own.)

I played this game for the story. They did such a good job at it. It was hard to put down the game because I just wanted to know what happens next!

I finished the main story now, and I'm on a long road towards the secret ending. It's taking me so long because the story is done now and I am much less motivated.

Unsurprisingly, this game will lag especially in areas with a heck of a lot of enemies or if you're playing a certain character, especially when playing multiplayer. The lag doesn't really go away even on docked mode. While it doesn't make the game unplayable, it certainly breaks immersion. There really is a need for a more capable switch or at least a PRO dock that can handle some of the processing.

Still, I highly recommend Age of Calamity to fans of BOTW who are hungry for more stories and who want to try a different kind of gameplay. This game makes me so excited for what happens in BOTW2!

Also, IMPA BEST GIRL!

I recently finished this game on my twitch channel. It's truly breathtaking.

It's a short, meditative game where you swim around the ocean, activate life pools to repopulate the ocean and discover the story behind a lost civilization.

Things I loved:

  • The art style and the sound design.
  • The "meditate" option. You can have this game going in the background. It's very chill.
  • The game can teach you about sea creatures (fantastical and real).
  • The subtle storytelling.

Things that I didn't like:

  • The default controls. Thankfully you can edit them in the menu. Still, I had some trouble in some areas. Probably a me issue.
  • It's shorter than I'd like. The game only goes for about 2 hours. If they had a DLC where we could have more places, I'd probably buy.

PROs:

  • The art style and graphics are great!
  • Music and sound effects are also great.
  • It's very easy to learn how to play the game.
  • No ads unless you choose to see the ads.

CONs:

  • This game feels like a slot machine. It's microtransactions + loot box central. Addicting in the worst way.
  • There's not much to do for the most part of the game. There's just a lot of waiting. B O R I N G.
  • It's actually harder to lose than to win.
  • No game over. They totally missed out writing some really funny text for the game over.

Seriously, I hated this game so much that I kicked out everyone from my vault. Only the kids were left AND I STILL DIDN'T GET A GAME OVER SCREEN. Then when those kids grew up, I kicked them out too. I had NOBODY in my vault and I had no rooms except for the ones I couldn't remove. Still no game over.

Overall, this game feels so manipulative.

Maybe I was expecting a lot from this game? I'm a big fan of darker themed games... But I felt let down by this one. It's a pretty short game. And it's the type that makes you question what it was really about when you're done. Unfortunately, I just felt meh afterwards... Not like I wanna learn more. The controls didn't feel as nice as I'd like. You die a lot in this game, especially on the first playthrough... The loading on the Switch was longer than I'd like (maybe this was a hardware/port issue). I bought it during a sale for less than 5USD. I'd say it's worth about that. Don't buy it at full price. I wish I bought the physical version instead of my digital copy... That way I could have sold it after finishing.

This is definitely, in my humble opinion the best first-person shooter on mobile. The controls are A+ and because it’s so popular, you’ll never wait too long to get into a match. My favourite multiplayer game modes are unfortunately not mainstays… but that’s okay because I noticed they tend to come back every once in a while. I'm not much into Battle Royale though so I don't know of COD Mobile's Battle Royale mode is good or not.

I played this once years ago and I was addicted to it. Then, the story ended and I stopped playing. I found this game again and it's still basically the same game like the one I played before but BETTER. I'm currently finishing up "chapter 2". It's a great game to lose a bit of time to. I feel like it's a game that's very at home on mobile.

Oof. If I'm gonna be honest. I felt let down by this game. The art style is cool, the gimmick is pretty good... but the ads are very aggressive. That almost totally ruined the experience for me. I'm okay with ads... but in this game it was just a tad bit too much. I still managed to finish it though but I'll never play it again willingly.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing this game! The free game is only the first of three parts. As of the writing of this review, I am able to buy the complete game for a dollar. I'm happy to shell out that much for this! In my playthrough, I didn't notice any ads at all. The puzzles felt challenging but never felt impossible.

A GREAT platfomer on mobile. The controls were executed really well. It's also decently hard as platformers should be. There are "optional" save points in some areas that you unlock by watching an ad. I'd say watch the ad unless you want to go full hardcore mode. For all the other ads, you can just turn off your internet connection if you don't want to see them. I don't know yet if it supports controllers. When I find out that it does, I'll update this review. Update: No controller support :(

Gameplay 7/10 Not perfect, but good enough. Story 10/10 There is absolutely no dialogue in the game, yet it tells such a compelling story. Visuals and Sound: 9.5/10 My eyes and ears are SPOILED. It gave me almost the same satisfaction as Breath of the Wild in terms of the visuals and sound design. ---------- GRIS is definitely worth the pick-up -- especially during this time. I’ve read people say that this game has helped them go through difficult times of their lives, and for me, it isn’t hard to imagine why.
