Puzzle fans will find a lot to love in Vesta. The game goes beyond simple tasks to a fully fleshed-out experience with beautiful graphics and an intriguing storyline. While the pacing can be slow and certain puzzles frustrating if you don’t follow the correct sequence on the first try, this is a perfect title to pick up and chill out with. The levels can vary in length, but overall aren’t that long, lending itself well to short play sessions while on the go.

Vesta does a remarkably fine job of aping the design and simple brilliance of Zelda puzzles, while putting its own unique spin on things as it does so. Though its puzzles can sometimes be unfairly or frustratingly designed, a pleasing visual style, meaty campaign and generally satisfying gameplay loop make this a win in our book; we’d absolutely suggest you give Vesta a try (especially if you’re a Zelda fan).

Vesta’s biggest issue is that it’s just a game. It’s not bad, by any means, but it’s so average that it’s difficult to recommend. It’s not a particularly steep challenge, it’s not dazzlingly pretty, it’s not that funny and, unfortunately, it’s just not original in any way. If you want a game to idle away a few hours in handheld mode, it’s a decent shout, but there are better and more interesting titles available for the Switch.
