Trials Rising offers some of the coolest levels in the series to date, and its new tutorial system does a better job of teaching you how to actually execute its hardest techniques than any game before it. That wide variety of tracks is unfortunately bogged down by the frustrating grind it takes to unlock them all and some strange decisions that lead to a more discouraging experience, but it’s still satisfying to get back on the bike and try for better medals if you can make it to the finish line.
Call me old fashioned, but when it comes to wanting a simple structured progression system akin to Trials Evolution, Trials Rising’s tendency to shamelessly Michael Bay the presentation did leave me pining for simpler times. However, I still found Trials Rising incredibly engrossing enough to fill dinner breaks and free time with the convenient ability to master the bunny hop anytime and anywhere.
For my money, Trials Rising is simply worth every penny. It's a rare game that I'm finished reviewing and still want to play. I've already dropped $20 on the DLC and can't wait to see how the game expands in the coming months. Recommended, as long as you don't mind crashing and burning a lot before you get good. The biggest fault against Trials Rising is the sale and profiteering of loot crates and spending tons of extra money on cosmetic items.
