Summary

Transcripted is a mixture of two incredibly addictive and vastly popular casual gaming styles: the dual-stick shooter and the match three puzzle game. In Transcripted players take control of the Nano Probe, a microscopic apparatus used to combat disease. Many weapon and ship upgrades allow players almost limitless customization options for their Nano Probe. Successfully navigate through hordes of deadly pathogens to destroy the disease’s pseudo-DNA and defeat gigantic boss.

Transcripted is one of the few basic puzzle games that manages to shake up its model and give the player a more unique experience. It's not perfect but, all in all, Transcripted’s gameplay, visuals and soundtrack do their job well in delivering a simple but fun experience on the Switch eShop.

Transcripted is exactly the kind of new and interesting concept that services like the eShop are built for, doing a very good job of getting the most out of that concept. This fusion of two very played-out genres creates an experience that’s far more engaging than you would think it should be, and adds another strong title to the Switch eShop.

As a whole, Transcripted does a fair enough attempt to separate itself from two genres that have been replicated a million times over. Whilst it doesn’t quite live up to the standards of the better iterations of each type of experience, it is crafted well enough to work. I wasn’t too keen on how weak the probe was at the beginning of the game, although the upgrade tree system itself is a decent enough way to spend your spoils.
