The game is an amazing 1st person RPG with a gimmicky time dilation ability. Each planet had thier own special things for me to discover. Side quest are not a chore and instead immurses you in Its world. NPCs are memorable, though I would have liked to get more options for companions. Gameplay was solid and the combat system got me yearning for more powerful weapons. Nevertheless the game fell short during the end game.

Just short of the Best RPG game I have ever played

The game has a nice gameplay, cool features such as science weapons and time dilation but i can't remember the story, i know i have a generic goal of saving a bunch of people i have no attachment to and corporations are evil but the other option is usually as bad and that's it.

The companions are barely expanded upon, parvatti and the vicar have a more developed "questline" and even so it is very bland, i hated how the vicar changed from a man of the cloth to a hippie atheist after having a drug induced hallucination, he was a man of logic and could not see that drugs can make you see things? and how long would it take for a person to accept their worldview is a lie? he does it in a heartbeat.

The other companions have almost nothing to expand their characters, the side missions are boring and you do them without paying attention to the story, the data pads and memos are so boring you skip reading them altogether.

It had the chance of being a good game but it was mediocre at best.

Solid foundation but bland

Wow. Reading the reviews of people that have played it on other platforms, I'm glad I bought it when it was on sale on the eShop. The action-RPG and humor elements make for an eerie cross between Fallout and Borderlands. I haven't played it on any other platform, but I can definitely resonate with the opinions of others who have played the other ports; this game runs sluggishly. I love FPSs, but this game's plodding (in my opinion) style doesn't suit me. I've already put it on my back burner.

I absolutely love everything about this game, except for how short it is, however I know that Obsidian had a rather small budget for this (what was essentially) a passion project, and with that in mind this game is absolutely incredible. It wont take very long before you can really feel the fallout influence that brought Obsidian into the spotlight, but with many improvements. The characters are fun and interesting and the story is immersive and comical, the graphics are also pretty amazing too. I definitely talk this game up alot and recommend it to friends frequently, I do usually warn people that it's short but also remind them that the budget was pretty minimal, the recent dlc's do help but if I had one complaint it would be for a much larger dlc that could be played after finishing the initial play through.

In The Outer Worlds, you awake from hibernation on a colonist ship that was lost in transit to Halcyon, the furthest colony from Earth located at the edge of the galaxy, only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy it. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.
