She Remembered Caterpillars is a color-matching puzzle game with an unsettling fungipunk aesthetic. Set in a phantasgamorphic world of writhing caterpillars, brightly-colored Gammies, and living architecture, the game will have players eavesdropping on what appears to be one scientist’s quest to save her father.

The logic behind the puzzles combined with the design of the visuals combine to create a game that is both relaxing to play while demanding your full attention to solve. Challenging without being stressful, She Remembered Caterpillars is an ideal game for shutting out the world and mapping out all the paths to victory.
Overall, while short, the compelling nature of She Remembered Caterpillars more than makes up for this shortcoming. It offers enough of a challenge to stump you into working to decipher the puzzles, while not punishing you for your attempts. Outside of a lackluster introduction, it pays off by the back end of the game in telling an endearing story of love, loss, and the determination on not giving up on those you love, all while avoiding a tired out narrative medium.
I said earlier that it’s unlike any game I have ever played, and I stand by that – it’s abstract, unique, challenging, bizarre and so very charming in equal measure. It has one or two niggles, yes, but these are such minor points. With an aesthetic and difficulty that will both enthrall and test, She Remembered Caterpillars is more than the sum of its parts.
