This game is definitely nowhere as good as Rune Factory 4 but it is still a good game. I think if you love Rune Factory, then you would have a good time with this. Unfortunately though, I had to pick who to marry by process of elimination which shows the characters are not as nice as Rune Factory 4 in my opinion. Other people seem to not have this problem though. I've seen many reviews that say they love the characters. The story is very meh, not as good as RF4. The secret character was annoying. You can finish the story pretty quickly. I finished the main game story in end of summer of the first year in the game.

So my thoughts on the characters:

Martin too serious and might literally work himself to death if someone doesn't look after him. I don't want to blame myself for the rest of my life if he accidentally works himself to death. Working to death happens a lot in Japan, karoshi.

Ryker too lazy and a thief even though he means well. I'm not into Robin Hood type characters. I like mysterious and cool design characters but the bad traits aren't good. Also he is a chuunibyo.

Cecil doesn’t feel like an adult, so many people look after him.

Reinhardt, a knight but broke my heart after choosing princess Beatrice to be number 1 priority instead of me in one of the events. Also he is too much of a cheapskate it seems and he cannot cook to save his life. I'm surprised how Beatrice never complains about his food. Just says "you never know what Reinhard might cook. Always exciting and interesting"

Lucas looks too old and a god

Fuuka, too much like a kid.

Ludmilla, too h0rny and too extra

Priscilla is meh. Bland and nothing interesting about her. Last place on popularity polls but the most canon girl to be the wife.

Scarlett is normal but not my type, too uptight

Lucy is okay but kind of tsundere which I'm not into.

Beatrice straight up says this relationship might only be temporary but she's the most like Emilia from Re:Zero. Even literally all her plot and story in the game. The trial to be the next ruler. You shouldn't break promises. Literally Emilia from Re:Zero lol. I wouldn't date any celebrity if they say it's only temporary in real life, doesn't matter if it's Harry Styles or Taylor Swift or Ed Sheeran. Still I married her in the game because personality wise, she is the best for me

Murakumo is close to my type but not into huge guys with the big hohoho laugh and fur on their whole body. I still married Beatrice and Murakumo because personality wise they were the best. Murakumo is kind and friendly. Martin is the type of husband to forget he has a wife because of his work. Margaret is my favourite, I would marry her but too bad you can't in 5. Murakumo's height difference is crazy thoughhh. I didn't need process of elimination for RF4 because all the characters were great and it was actually hard to decide who to marry in RF4 which is a good sign that the characters are great

Rune Factory 5

I was so excited when this game was teased years back.

The farming aspect with its community building and action rpg elements were blended perfectly. There are a lot to accomplish in the game, you can fish, farm, woo, battle, craft, forge, cook and enjoy minigames among others. And focusing in one area or being great at one does not mean you can simply neglect the others or will break the game's progression system, the different stats in the world will help you navigate what you would like to do, in each cooking you earn skill points, in every swing of the axe your level slowly increases, and there are various type of weapons to learn to craft and to level up as well.

The basic magnetism of Rune Factory is as appealing as it used to be. However the obvious transition from RF4 2d to RF5 3d environment had a big cost in performance, which is much apparent in switching areas where frame rate drops are maxed, not to mention the barren lands. However, the models and design are still commendable.

It is also impoirtrant to state that the days are longer in this game and I finished the story in summer of year 1 in the game. It was an enjoyable narrative with interesting characters even if they don't interact that much. And even after finishing the story, I still have a lot on my plate, such as town expansion, festivals, and post game contents. It is a good game for rpg and farming enthusiasts, but for people who would want to enter the series, I would say that RF4 is a more friendly game for new comers.

The technical issues may be one of the greatest flaw in the game, luckily it does not impede action based battles that much, and despite that, I still enjoy playing the game, and I guess that says a lot on how enjoyable the game despite the technical difficulties.

Mesmerizing action-farming game that is technically challenged
