Mega Man Legacy Collection is a celebration of the 8-bit history of Capcom’s iconic Blue Bomber. Featuring faithful reproductions of the series’ origins with the original six Mega Man games, the Legacy Collection will remind long-time fans and introduce newcomers to what made Mega Man such a popular and iconic character. Mega Man Legacy Collection will feature all six games and much more. In addition to the six Mega Man games, Mega Man Legacy Collection features new ways to experience the classic games with the Museum Mode and new Challenge Mode. Challenge Mode remixes gameplay segments from all six games, with plenty of scaling difficulty objectives for experienced players to conquer yet serving as a good starting point for new players, too. Museum Mode contains a comprehensive collection of history, high-res art and original concept pieces – a mega treat for any fan of Mega Man and video game history.

Is this Mega Man collection good? Sure thing, it’s comprised of a good chunk of why we fell in love with that blue fella back in the day. Is this the best Mega Man collection out there? I don’t think so. If all you have right now are modern consoles, this is the way to go (I’d still recommend it in other platforms, not the Switch), but if you have access to a PS2, an Xbox, or a Gamecube, just grab the Anniversary Collection instead. It features more games and some exclusive arcade bonuses not featured here.

The rewind feature is a welcome inclusion that helps to mitigate the difficulty of some of the games, and the overall quality of the series difficult to dispute. We would highly recommend you pick this one up, all the included extra features coupled with the ability to play these games both at home and on the go make it a no-brainer.

If you already have the Legacy Collection on 3DS and are happy with it, I don’t know how badly you need this Switch version. However, both volumes in addition to the upcoming Mega Man X collection, on a single console is awfully tempting prospect, right? It’s like the GameCube all over again.
