It’s a game that might be fun to look at, given its comic book presentation, but isn’t fun at all when it forces you to play a level. It’s just too glitchy, unfair, and uninspired to make you want to keep playing it for long. A shame, without a doubt, as this could have been the closest counterpart to a V for Vendetta game out there…
I would go to bed thinking about what I had just experienced, how it linked to previous events, and how mysteries would unfold in the following issues. That is the sign of an strong and engrossing narrative that won’t soon be forgotten. Even with gameplay that, on occasion, left something to be desired as well as a slightly crowded cast of characters, Liberated comes easy to recommend with sincere hopes for a sequel.
The plot and gameplay are both simple to understand, even if the game did end too quickly. I also would have liked some variety in enemies and more strategizing in the game, but this is based on a pretty realistic world and having overpowered robots would probably not fit into the narrative. While it may not the most exciting action-adventure platformer out there, the artwork and stylish storytelling is impressive and makes the experience worthwhile.
