Into The Breach is a brutal, uncompromising game of making hard decisions and living with your mistakes, but the short length of battles and endless variety of playthroughs makes for an extremely addictive experience. Though the graphics are nothing special, the gameplay is some of the very best you’ll find in the strategy genre on the Switch, and we can easily recommend this to anybody who’s looking for an in-depth game that’ll make you think.
All in all, Into the Breach is a challenging but rewarding game that begs to be played by those who enjoy strategy and tactics games. The game can be enjoyable for more casual players, too, but there is likely to be a fair bit of frustration, at least initially. As well, the basic gameplay itself doesn’t really change over the course of each run: guard buildings, kill Vek, and try not to die in the process.
It’s a kick-ass retro turn-based strategy game that constantly flexes your brain muscles, and punishes your idiocy with a quick death. What it lacks in encounter diversity it makes up for with an excellent stable of mechs to play around with, a bad ass soundtrack, and a vibe that sucked me down the rabbit hole something fierce. It may not consume your whole year like FTL did, but Into The Breach is a tighter and more concentrated experience that’s well worth the money.
