As Link—or even as Princess Zelda—you’ll explore the randomly generated overworld and dungeons on a quest to save Hyrule. Every beat of each remixed, The Legend of Zelda tune is a chance to move, attack, defend, and more, so stay one step ahead of each enemy and boss…or face the music. From modern-looking Lynels to the Hyrulean Soldiers of old, you must master the instinctive movements of each pixel-art enemy, and strategically outstep them in rhythmic combat. So equip yourself with an arsenal of iconic Legend of Zelda items, as well as the spells and weapons from Crypt of the Necrodancer. You must be prepared to face Hyrule’s most wicked bosses, which have been transformed by magic, granting them mighty, new forms!

This game is pretty good and enjoyable. Although it is quite a small playthrough, it keeps throwing new challenges at you, as you slowly master the controls and gameplay. And there's even post-game content, which gives great replay value to it. The music is the best, as it is the focus of this game, and the controls are extremely precise.

Cadence of Hyrule didn’t click with me at first but the Fixed Beat Mode really helped. Without that mode, I don’t think this game would have as much appeal but the developers were wise to include it. With such a great visual presentation and an excellent soundtrack, players need to check out Cadence of Hyrule even if they’re just a little curious. The gameplay may trip you up as it did for me, but check out the Fixed Beat Mode–you’ll be glad you did!
Cadence of Hyrule ends up being a shocking blend of a rhythm game, action game, puzzle game, dungeon crawler, and roguelike, all in one. It's actually pretty stunning how well the developers have managed to blend all of these elements together and still come out with a cohesive and refined experience. The game looks amazing, plays marvelously, and the music is not only the most important part, but it's the part that delivers the best. The Crypt of the NecroDancer formula isn't for everyone, but this game is borderline unmissable.
Cadence of Hyrule is a true accomplishment managing to fuse together the excellent rhythm-based gameplay of Crypt of the Necrodancer with the rich world of The Legend of Zelda. So much more than a simple re-skin, Cadence of Hyrule displays the same level of care we’d expect from Nintendo themselves – everything from the excellent soundtrack to the charming visuals to the countless winks and nods toward the series. If this is the result of giving Nintendo’s franchises to an indie developer I for one hope we see plenty more in the future.
