This is my personal review of the game **The Last Hero of Nostalgaia** after playing about 40 hours and completing the main storyline while simultaneously doing an [all main bosses no damage challenge run](https://youtu.be/hKBbkxZjIKQ).

**Steam Price:** Php 549.95

**Is there a demo available?** Yes

**Genre:** Souls-like, Retro, RPG

What's Good?

* This game is basically Dark Souls but a shorter version with retro-style graphics.

* Sounds and audio - again retro-style - are good.

* Co-op play is available although I have not personally tried it.

* Storytelling is quite good. And the witty humor and pop-culture references are a fantastic match to its retro-style graphics.

* World-building is really good, area interconnectivity is fantastic! Biomes and enemies do not feel repetitive and reused most of the time.

* Character building is awesome. I played the game with melee Dex+Luk build character - most of the time unarmored and I actually enjoyed it.

* Boss fights are somewhat challenging, but not as much as FromSoftware bosses.

What's Bad?

* Boss fights are very far apart IMHO. After the first boss, it took me almost 2 map explorations before I was able to fight another boss. I didn't mind this at all but I know some players would feel tedious of this design.

* The game does not have a fast-travel. For an indie game, the world is actually massive. The devs actually made the area interconnectivity really good however I still think it needs a fast-travel mechanics.

* Minor glitches - fell through and glitched on the floor once my entire playthrough, but nothing major.

TL;DR

**Do I recommend the game?** Yes! If you've played Dark Souls before and enjoyed it, I'm sure you'll enjoy this one too.

**Is the game worth the full price?** Yes! Support good small indie devs, please.

P.S. (Shameless Plug) - I have a [small youtube channel](https://youtube.com/@shieldstick) where I post gameplay and challenge videos like fighting game bosses in the hardest difficulty without taking any damage. I would appreciate it if you guys can support me there as well by liking and subscribing. :ok\_hand:
