Assassin's Creed Origins is probably my favourite game of all time, for so many reasons. Out of the RPG line of Assassin's Creed, I would say despite the improvements made in later games, this one is the best of the (current) 3. I don't have a single complaint for this game, and I feel Ubisoft took a great risk in completely changing how the Assassin's Creed series was viewed and it was definetly worth it.

Let's start with the setting. As is fairly obvious from the cover art, this game is set in ancient Egypt. The setting was one that many long time fans had been wanting for a while and Ubisoft delivered with an astonishing map. The map itself covers a scaled down version of the whole of the country of Egypt. The map is incredibly rich in content, filled with puzzles, collectables, enemy camps, settlements, minigames and more. The graphics are absolutely stunning. They designers manage to fully capture the mystery and beauty of a variety of landscapes, from endless rolling dunes of sand and lush oases, to looming mountains and gloomy tombs. The graphics are just so incredible, especially given it is at least 5 years ago and still are considered some of the most realistic graphics in a videogame. The map just begs to be explored.

Music next. Wow. The theme of this game is so powerful. I will often just listen to the themes while doing other things because I honestly love it so much. It is the perfect fit for the game and is incredibly complimentary and really helps set the scene.

On to story. It has its ups and down in emotions but the main story keeps up the same standard the whole way throughout, constantly begging to be explored and played through time and time again. I've played this game multiple times and I still marvel at how well written it was, as well as how creative the characters were. Bayek himself, the main protagonist, is incredibly easy to empathise with. He has a compelling story and is incredibly well written, serious and funny when it is necessary, and he is just incredibly diverse.

Special mention to the A.I. In this game the A.I was incredibly advanced for it's time and still holds up to this day. If you observe an enemy camp, you see they have actual schedules. They go to sleep, keep watch, have conversations and are just so much more lifelike than in previous games where the enemies just walked from A to B for forever. The NPC A.I is advanced too, however it was less of a leap from the pervious game, Assassin's Creed Syndicate.

The gameplay itself is incredible. Ubisoft took some risks and totally re-evaluated how the Assassin's Creed series would be in the RPG line. The combat is diverse and impressive, the stealth and parkour are engaging and perfectly crafted. The puzzles are unique and the exploration is rewarding.

Al in all, incredibly well made game. I love the Assassin's Creed series so I may be somewhat biased but I would say even if you don't think you would like it, buy it anyway, you can always return it. Everyone deserves to get a chance to see if they themselves would enjoy this game as much as I do. Great work Ubisoft.
