Ugly offers a delightful and engaging experience for puzzle platformer enthusiasts, making it a must-buy for fans of the genre. With a unique mirror shard mechanic as the central gameplay element, the puzzles and challenges evolve across various worlds, introducing new twists to keep players on their toes. The game's story unfolds seamlessly through drawings, movies, and room designs, providing depth and narrative intrigue.

The boss designs and corresponding puzzles stand out as notable strengths, with one particular boss fight being highlighted as a memorable experience. The absence of dialogue doesn't hinder the storytelling; instead, the game masterfully weaves a compelling narrative through its visual elements.

The game's positive aspects extend to its additional content, such as the "hell" versions of certain rooms, offering a considerable challenge with new mechanics. The hint function, with no significant penalties, adds a helpful feature for players navigating difficult puzzles. The inclusion of collectibles, despite some inaccuracies in the map, adds to the overall exploration and completionist experience.

However, the review also highlights a few potential drawbacks. One mechanic, described as frustrating, requires precise execution and may pose challenges, regardless of using a controller. The map's accuracy for showing collectibles and the manual confirmation process upon discovery are noted as minor inconveniences. Additionally, the endgame content's high difficulty, while offering more challenges, raises concerns about narrative elements being inaccessible for some players.

Despite these minor drawbacks, the game's overall recommendation is strong. Priced at $4.99, Ugly offers sufficient content, providing 3 to 4 hours of gameplay for the main storyline alone. Available on both Android and iOS, the game supports both controller and touch controls, making it accessible to a wide audience. The final recommendation encourages players to support games like "UGLY" and experience the well-crafted puzzle platformer firsthand.
