Name: The Beautiful Game That Wants You to Win, but Loves Vaults of Tartarus More Than You
Item: Immortals: Fenyx Rising
Rating: 7.5

Campaign: The game overdoes it with jokes, but the dialogue is more natural than what the industry offers these days. There's periods of time when character interactions go on for too long, though. Characters feel like characters in this game, and its nice. Story will immerse you somehow, no issues here. Use of humor is appreciated. The BIGGEST problem with the game is the over reliance on VAULTS OF TARTARUS. Its just puzzles but when they have you using spheres on conveyer belts, the process is SO SLOW and it really breaks up the flow of your gameplay if you had just been kicking ass. This is also how you upgrade your stamina, so you have to do a lot. In my opinion, tying these together with stamina building was a mistake. It just gets old having to do so many of these vaults and then to consider theres an entire dlc on just this face of the overall gameplay--yuck.

Gameplay: Gameplay is not as complex as it appears as first. Once you understand counters and when and how to use special attacks, the game feels a lot like a modern day action RPG, something akin to Tales of Arise, Trials of Mana, or Darksiders. There is a slight floatiness to the combat but not as noticeable as Kingdom Hearts 3 and still less than Kindom Hearts 2, but faster than Nier Automata. Looks very very flashy too. Wish there was more diversity in music since its the same song over and over again. Obviously copycat of Zelda. Traveling and exploration is also fun but I wish Fenyx had snappier movement. The cartoon artstyle seems to make avatar feel slower than they could be.

Presentation: Beautiful, gorgeous game. Easily comparable to Odyssey or Origins in complexity of its architecture of the time. If one bought this game just for the graphics and art, I understand. Music is great and definitely fits. Never took me out of it.

Replay Value: Its an adventure game, it really depends on if you want to min-max or do it all again to justify replaying it. The adventure itself is a lot of game and you can really go autopilot on the game. If you want to experience absolutely every function of the game's code though, I recommend playing the game on hard starting out. Some battles do turn into battles of attrition and it can feels dark souls light, but not really.

OVERALL: The game is high frequency dopamine if you want it to be or a light puzzler with some flashy combat and funny characters in a big world if you immerse yourself. It's plenty of game for what they're charging you and you can feel the love. Deserves a sequel so much.
