Yes!

Finally! Turn-based combat that blatantly follows the flow and concept of Suikoden.

If you have lived through the PSX's golden era, where JRPGS dominated the gaming landscape, you would have come across a game called Suikoden.

Now, I don't want to thoroughly explain what Suikoden is, but to put it short, its a JRPG that got fame due to two things.

One, collect a lot of playable characters to fill up your party/army.

Two, the army battlefield combat simulator.

So, after playing over 20+ hours, I have a solid critique for this game.

Lets start with the PROS.

1. The combat. It stays fateful to the old-school turn-based JPRGs.
2. The simple graphics. It isn't as stellar as most RPGs out there, but since this game was made as a homage to the old-school JRPGS, the developers have really nailed it.
3. The PC controls are good. It isn't perfect, but it isn't as downright broken or complicated as other PC ports out there (MH Rise *cough cough).
4. If you have played any of the previous Eiyuden Chronicle games, you will come across old characters that you have met before.
5. The gimmick command. Most bosses you encounter have a gimmick command. This is a hint that the boss will do something that would definitely hurt your party. Using this command will turn the tide of battle. Did the boss pull a lever to drop a boulder on your party? Use the gimmick command to hit that same lever and drop the boulder on him instead.
6. Music is alright. I'd say the battle theme sticks out the most as memorable, but everything is else is good enough. It isn't as repetitive as other games like Eastward.

Now for the CONS.

1. Some of the voice acting can be kind of rough to listen to. You can listen to two characters talking and they sound like they have their lines recorded in different studious and using different microphones. It can be that bad.
2. Character designs are kind of meh. The biggest example are the Treefolks. Its like a grade school kid designed this and everyone in the development team where like "Yeah, that's good enough. Good one kid."
3. Visual bugs. Sometimes, during battle, the camera will zoom down in an angle and have the foliage block everything. It can be a bit frustrating since you need to keep track on what the enemy has done to your party.

And that it.

I've been enjoying every single minute I spent in this game.

If you miss the good ol days of JRPGs, then I highly encourage that you go play this game.

It is in Xbox gamepass as well as PC gamepass.
