As I delve into Crash Team Racing, it's impossible to ignore certain aspects that stand out, not all for the best. Firstly, while the game faithfully replicates the mechanics of the original, they sometimes feel a bit archaic compared to the polished dynamics of contemporary racers. This, I find, might not resonate well with those who are new to the franchise. The difficulty, especially in adventure mode and time trials, is notably challenging. This steep learning curve can be daunting for casual gamers or those less accustomed to the series.

The updated graphics, impressive as they are, create a bit of a disconnect with the game's classic aesthetic, which might not sit well with hardcore fans of the original. And then there's the inclusion of microtransactions for cosmetics. Although they don't affect gameplay, their presence feels like a departure from the game's simpler, purer roots.

Despite these points, Crash Team Racing does hold its ground as an enjoyable and engaging kart racer. However, these elements might dampen the overall experience for some, including myself
