The Saints Row franchise has always been synonymous with over-the-top open-world mayhem, offering a GTA-like experience with its crazy antics, mindless shooting, and humor-laden dialogues. This reboot of Saints Row retains that signature charm, and my adventure with it on the PS5, courtesy of the September PS Plus offering, was a rollercoaster of a time.

One aspect of this game that I genuinely enjoyed was the extensive customization options. The level of personalization you can bring to your character is nothing short of amazing. It's clear that the developers put effort into improving this aspect. But the pleasant surprise didn't stop there. The main campaign story, which unexpectedly gave off a western vibe, had its moments of brilliance. The final act, in particular, left a positive impression. My focus was mainly on the main story, which clocked in at around 20 hours of gameplay.

However, there's a glaring issue that can't be overlooked: the lack of polish. Saints Row still harbors a plethora of bugs, including some game-breaking ones that can be immensely frustrating. As a player who's experienced Saints Row 4, I couldn't help but appreciate its more polished predecessor. I sincerely hope the developers invest time in resolving these issues.

In terms of graphics, Saints Row shines on the PS5. The game offers various graphic modes, allowing you to choose between 1080p, 1440p, and 4K depending on your monitor. The vibrant colors of the western landscapes, especially during sunsets, are a sight to behold.

Ultimately, Saints Row has taken up the role of my "filler" game as I eagerly play titles like Starfield and Baldur's Gate. While it may have its rough edges, it served as a decent distraction to ease my frustration over StarField.
