About this game
Content Rating: Mature
The epic story of Utawarerumono comes to an end in Mask of Truth, as the fate of the world will be determined by warring nations. The game features exciting SRPG battles, a colorful cast of new/familiar faces that will determine the fate of their world, a rousing original soundtrack, and the dramatic conclusion to the journey of Haku. After the events of Mask of Deception, Haku is destined to rally the nation of Ennakamuy to fight against the evil forces that now control the Yamato throne. With everything on the line, Haku and his friends must do everything in their power to ensure that the future of Yamato triumphs over the true evil that lurks in the depth of the darkness.

Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth continues the trend of the first game and improves upon its combat. The visual novel aspect of things remains enjoyable, while the tactical RPG gameplay is more focused and refined. Graphically, it still falls short of what many would expect on the PS4, with Vita-level graphics that work fine for that version but don’t hold up well on the big screen. Its gorgeous soundtrack helps overcome that issue and allows even the most intense battles to be relaxing.
Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth is a great game for those who have played the previous one; however, it isn’t entirely suited for new players. I would definitely recommend picking up the Mask of Deception first to get a feel for the story.
Those willing to tread through an overabundance of dialogue and many instances of unnecessary padding are sure to find things to enjoy throughout this lengthy adventure – provided that their patience lasts long enough.
