Summary

Episode three of a three part episodic game series set in the same universe as Robert Kirkman’s award-winning series. Feeling the weight of choices both recent and long ago, Michonne tries to protect an innocent family, but Norma and the vengeful Monroe crew are closing in. As reality shatters and the ghosts of the daughters she abandoned demand to be heard, your choices will determine who lives, who dies, and what redemption really means in a world gone to hell.

What We Deserve is interesting and exciting enough that it’s worth playing through the first two dull episodes to see how everything comes together. It’s a great conclusion, and hopefully a sign that Telltale still has some surprises when it comes to interactive storytelling.

It might sound like I’m being overly negative for the franchise, I’d have to say even with these problems, this miniseries was still a lot of fun and worth checking out, if players find themselves either huge Walking Dead fans or into the genre. The ideas behind this third Walking Dead game seem to be stretching thin though, as with each one there seems to be an emotional pack or punch lacking from each new release.

Whilst this ending somewhat redeems some of the flaws of the previous episodes, The Walking Dead: Michonne - Episode 3: What We Deserve is not without issues. The short nature of the episode and the lack of playable sections, along with the limited impact the choices have on the ending, really drag it down. This is still definitely worth experiencing for fans of Telltale titles or The Walking Dead in general but, considering the pedigree and promise of the premise, this ultimately is a disappointment.
