Outside of a few minor graphical glitches, the game plays fine and the quick-time events are more meaningful than previous episodes. Voice performances bring emotion to scenes, while the music and sound effects also add impact. Above The Law has some interesting plot threads, but didn’t leave me on the edge of my seat.
Now at the halfway point, The Walking Dead: A New Frontier has hit some really exciting moments. Unfortunately, most of them aren’t in Above the Law. It has some absolutely fantastic set up for what’s going to happen in the last two episodes, features a fun fight, and still has some great little moments. It just lacks the big stuff I’ve come to expect.
The Walking Dead: A New Frontier - Episode 3: Above the Law is simmering. Javier Garcia is a great character, and aside from some cartoonish bit-parts, the cast that he's surrounding himself with is equally intriguing. Clem's inclusion feels a little forced at this point, but it's good to have her around all the same. An unsatisfying conclusion lets this instalment down, but we're still very much enjoying the ride.
