There’s a lot to do, but a lot of it bleeds together and isn’t helped by the frustratingly perfect AI. Playing with friends should add some life, but only if you have a consistent group. Otherwise it’s down to how much grinding you can put up with.
The Crew 2 comes off as appealing when looking at a spec sheet of what it has to offer. From the outside looking in, it seems like a strong improvement to the original. There’s an overabundant amount of things to do and it will keep your time consumed. What it lacks, however, is that hook to want to play it. The driving and physics are bland and the narrative is dreadful.
In what I can only assume was an unintentional parallel, progressing in The Crew 2 depends on getting enough social-media followers to up your reputation to unlock new tiers of events so you can do it all over again. Jumping through all these hoops for other people’s amusement (but not my own) is a hollow purpose – a kind of vain attempt for validation that quickly grows thin.
