Be that as it may, I am glad Bandai Namco and Dimps went with something a bit different for Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet. I had a good amount of entertainment playing around with the different mechanics while getting to know the other characters in my party. While it may not convince those who aren’t already fans of the series to give this one a try, those who are already invested in the license will find plenty to enjoy here.
I enjoyed most of my time with Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet but I felt that it could have been a better experience with improved dungeon design and controls. Thankfully, this is a great new direction for the SAO series to be headed. Hopefully, the next video game installment will continue the trajectory of Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet and make this series the best it can be for fans.
Fatal Bullet also features online PvP elements, but the less said about those the better—do not purchase this game for its online functionality. The modes feel tacked on, matchmaking takes times, and all of the positive energy generated by the game’s combat system in PvE translates very poorly into PvP. Not being able to aim very well against other players sucks, and the matches devolve into spray and pray mentalities quickly.
