Resident Evil 7: Biohazard’s End of Zoe expansion offers the kind of tongue-in-cheek silliness only Capcom’s survival horror franchise can provide. Played straight with some pretty serious stakes, the DLC still manages to be downright stupid all at the same time. It’s a wonderful send-off for one of 2017’s greats.
Not a Hero and End of Zoe are, ultimately, not afraid to try new things, to break away from the structure that defines the base game of Resident Evil 7– and for that, both DLCs have to be applauded. Does everything they do work? Not exactly. But both these DLC packs are worth playing, if for very different reasons.
The only fault I can point out is that the conclusion comes much too quickly after giving us a taste of refreshing hand-to-hand combat, and introducing us to the incredibly interesting (and slightly comical) Joe Baker. End of Zoe is highly recommended for Resident Evil 7 enthusiasts to enjoy and provides an extremely satisfying conclusion to the game’s overall narrative while leaving a thirst for even more.
