Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 4 is, and will forever remain, a masterpiece. It says a lot when you can pop in a game over a decade old, and still get as engrossed into everything it has to offer like it was the first time ever experiencing it. If you have somehow still never played this game, put down whatever game(s) you are playing and make room for this survival horror smash.

While the mechanics are stiff compared to modern games, it’s a blast from the past that will invoke nostalgia for those who haven’t played it since its initial release in 2005. Visually, textures seem to have slightly more detail that wasn’t there before and the benefit of having 1080p, 60fps is monumental. Despite some minor annoyances, Resident Evil 4 continues to be a standout experience.

If you’ve yet to have had the pleasure of playing through Leon Kennedy’s harrowing journey through derelict Europe, it behooves you to download (or physically purchase) Resident Evil 4 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. However, if you’re on the other end of the spectrum and happen to own multiple copies of the game, mid-level improvements may not be enough to warrant another twenty-five dollar expense.

One of the best action games ever made and although this is a competent port it’s still not the definitive remaster fans will have wished for. Endlessly inventive set pieces and action, with enormous variety and some great enemies and boss battles. Endearingly cheesy characters and plot. Intrusive inventory can spoil the atmosphere. Many of the control mechanics now seem very outdated. Some minor bugs and graphical oddities.

The controls are clunky, and are showing their age, there are some slight frame-rate drops when reloading either of the two long-range rifles Leon can possess, and the inventory management can make stressful battles a little staccato as you switch back and forth between the action and your suitcase to either heal or change weapons, but these are all minor niggles in an otherwise superb game. Resident Evil 4 is a genre-defining classic that continues to surpass expectations eleven years on. If you haven’t played it before, or want to revisit this masterpiece again, do so immediately.

Resident Evil 4 is fun. It's excellently paced and contains fairly frightening cut-scenes. The characters are paper-thin and their actors ham it up, but it's more about the overall plot, anyway. The soundtrack increases the feeling of dread. It's just a shame so many environments have the same colours and atmosphere.

There’s nothing new for repeat players except another crack at an exceptional, if ever-so-slightly dated game. For those who haven’t picked up Resident Evil 4 in a while however, this is as good a time as any to remind yourself of what heights this series can reach.

Resident Evil 4 remains in a league of its own, but this port dampens the enjoyment with an unwelcome jump in resolution and some odd control issues.

El nuevo remaster tiene un comportamiento mucho más sólido que anteriores ports del juego gracias a los 1080p y sobre todo los 60 frames por segundo, llega con todos los contenidos extras de Ada y tiene momentazos (sobre todo con Jefes) que siguen intactos a pesar del tiempo.

En definitiva, y recuperando nuestras conclusiones de Ultimate HD, se trata de una de las mejores maneras de descubrir Resident Evil 4, parte destacada en la historia de esta industria. Al menos, hasta que Capcom lo vuelva a remasterizar en el futuro.

No hay duda de que 11 años desde el juego original pasan factura en lo técnico y jugable... Pero por desarrollo, ritmo y guión sigue siendo un juego muy disfrutable hoy día.

Über die inhaltliche Qualität von Resident Evil 4 muss man kaum diskutieren. Nahezu alle Elemente dieses beinahe zwölf Jahre alten Titels vom Spannungsbogen über die Tempowechsel bis hin zu den gewaltigen Feuergefechten, den intensiven Bosskämpfen oder intuitiven Reaktionstests, konnten dem Zahn der Zeit widerstehen. Bei der Kulisse hingegen, die auf der Ultimate-HD-Version für den PC fußt, deren Basis wiederum die PS3-/360-Versionen sind, ist das Alter deutlich spürbar.

Bref, on se demande comment Capcom peut livrer un portage si fainéant, surtout lorsqu'il s'agit d'un pur chef d'oeuvre comme Resident Evil 4... Est-ce si difficile d'appliquer un anti-aliasing ? Le jeu reste une référence inoubliable, mais si cette version console offre une occasion de le redécouvrir sous un meilleur jour, elle reste bien paresseuse.

Avec un sens du rythme et une variété des situations qui forcent encore le respect aujourd'hui, Resident Evil 4 revient dans ce qui est sans doute la meilleure version disponible sur consoles, revendiquant 1080p et 60 fps sans embrouiller sur ces deux aspects. De là à justifier un énième achat plein pot pour ceux qui l'ont retourné des dizaines de fois, tout dépendra de votre degré d'infection.

Son sens du rythme et sa narration démontrent que le titre était vraiment en avance sur son temps. Pour ce portage, on aurait aimé un lifting plus marqué et la présence d'un anti-aliasing mais c'est sans conteste la meilleure adaptation console à ce jour. Par conséquent, si vous ne l'avez jamais fait ou que vous voulez redécouvrir ce mythe du survival horror, ne faites pas la fine bouche et partez à la conquête du secret des Illuminados.

La versione di Resident Evil 4 dedicata alle console attuali è solo un porting su cui non è stato fatto alcun lavoro aggiuntivo degno di nota, pertanto si tratta di un prodotto che possiamo consigliare unicamente a chi, ancora, non ha avuto modo di giocare a uno dei titoli più importanti e influenti di qualche generazione fa.

Resident Evil 4 resta un titolo godibile nonostante l'età, capace di mantenersi a galla nei giudizi proprio grazie al suo gameplay, nonostante in questa edizione di remaster abbia solo il nome. Di fatto, Capcom si è limitata a fare un mero porting delle vecchie versioni, alzando la risoluzione e il frame rate ma lasciando praticamente invariato tutto il resto.

Sonuç olarak, Resident Evil 4 hala o eski ihtişamını koruyor. Uygun fiyatı, 1080p ve 60 FPS oynanışı ile de bir albeniye sahip olduğundan dolayı burun kıvırmayacağınızı düşünüyorum. En azından alıp platlamak gerekir bence. Ben öyle yapacağım.

Jag har svårt att lägga ifrån mig handkontrollen trots att jag säkerligen har spelat igenom äventyret över tio gånger genom åren och det tycker jag säger en hel del. Designen är fortfarande magisk, de nya tekniska bitarna fungerar otroligt väl och tempot är fortfarande perfekt avvägt. Den bråkiga spelkontrollen kan bli ett hinder om du inte spelade spelet när det begav sig, men ger du det tid och tillåter dig själv att komma in i det har du ett gäng fantastiska timmar framför dig.
