Primal Carnage: Extinction is a class-based online multiplayer shooter built on the Unreal Engine, featuring fast-paced combat, diverse environments, and over-the-top action. On a mysterious island overrun with prehistoric monsters, you can choose to fight as a variety of legendary dinosaurs or to join the human mercenary team armed with a unique, distinctive, and destructive arsenal aimed at making these bloodthirsty beasts extinct once and for all. Will you use a sniper rifle or flaming chainsaw to bring these hulking creatures to their knees? Will you swoop, stomp, or chew through the puny human intruders? The only real question is, can you survive?

Honestly you’re better off picking up just about any other asymmetrical shooter if you’re really just looking to have a laugh with some friends over the holidays. Even if you absolutely love dinosaurs, want to become a paleontologist and have marathoned the entire Jurassic Park series multiple times, do yourself a favour and stay away. Primal Carnage: Extinction should be made extinct.
There is definitely some fun to be had in Primal Carnage: Extinction, especially on the dinosaurs’ side. There is a nice selection of modes, but when the end result is almost always the same it can get boring. Circle Five Studios has a fantastic premise for a game, it just needed some more time to incubate before it saw the light of day.
For an independently developed title it looks pretty stunning, even if some of the animations are slightly off. However, as much fun as I’ve had messing around with the various classes and game modes, Primal Carnage simply doesn’t have the lasting appeal I look for in a multiplayer shooter
