One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3, from a gameplay standpoint, is simply "more Pirate Warriors 2." It doesn't really do anything new outside of the slightly different Kizuna system, and veterans will likely favor the Dream mode instead of the retreading story. Despite its Frankenstein-esque shortcomings, Pirate Warriors 3 is a beautiful game, and still a lot of fun to play locally.
I got what I expected out of One Piece Pirate Warriors 3, which was a musou game with a One Piece skin. I was just hoping for a bigger roster and more depth in combat, especially considering this is the third game in the series. Even playing through the story mode feels a bit shallow considering how many characters are removed from even cutscenes. One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 is a decently fun game with a cast of unique fighters you won’t find anywhere else, but ultimately it’s a simple musou with a popular anime painted over it.
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 starts out as a fun and uncomplicated brawler on a grand scale, but soon becomes tiresome after you've seen the 100,000th enemy go flying through the air. It's eye-catching and inviting, but ultimately, Pirate Warriors 3 is just too one-note.
