My time at Portia is, first and foremost, a game about building, and I've had a great time doing it. From mining to taming wild llamas to dating, there’s a lot to do here, and I’m still discovering and unlocking new and usually interesting things. While each of its parts is lacking in some way or have annoying audio bugs, when you put them all together they bolster each other to add up to something fun. I look forward to seeing how My Time at Portia continues to evolve in the future.

You'll spend your time idly dangling your legs off the edge of the pier, participating in fishing tourneys, ushering in holidays with your partner, and fending off local wildlife. However, the ruins of a time long forgotten will always darken the horizon, and there'll be a part of you that wonders what more there could have been before you find yourself shunted to the next life goal in a long series of life goals. That feeling is unfortunately hard to shake, and it's a shame that there's not as much to the world of Portia as first appears.

After an entire calendar year in Portia, there’s still so much more for me to do. There are new areas to unlock and explore, buildings to reopen, and I still haven’t convinced Gust that we should be married and become a powerhouse architect firm. I may not reconstruct every single lost relic that lays beneath Portia in the ruins, but I’ll be damned if I don’t get Gust to wear my ring.

Luckily, the more time you spend in Portia the more the world will reward you. The game is effortlessly simple, but it excels in almost everything it aims to achieve. It’s one of the most relaxing indie life-simulation games out there, and yet it still offers enough adventure and addictive crafting opportunities to keep you hooked. A totally new spin on the post-apocalyptic experience, My Time At Portia is vibrant, relaxing, and brimming with charm.

My Time at Portia is the best wholesome life simulator you can play at the moment on Switch, hands-down

I’ve no shame in admitting I haven’t ‘finished’ Portia. I’m not even sure one can ever feel finished, when it comes to games like this one. No matter what story achievements you complete, no matter what you build, there will ever be some new project or goal lingering on the farthest shores. This is the ultimate judgment, the only one you need concern yourself with.

We loved building our reputation as a fledgeling builder in the gorgeous town of Portia and had a great time as we expanded our workshop, made lasting relationships, and undertook commissions from our friends and neighbours. We do wish that the combat offered more depth and that some of the flaws that we flagged during the Early Access period were ironed out, but these are minor flaws when considering everything else Pathea has excelled at here.

My Time at Portia forces players to figure out the game’s features before they can truly appreciate them

A gorgeous, atmospheric, and relaxing world chock full of things to do, My Time at Portia ultimately falls frustratingly short of its potential due to some serious pacing issues and an overall lack of mechanical polish.

My Time at Portia gustará a aquellos que prefieran jugar muy lentamente.
