Thanks to new avenues of play and smart restructuring decisions, MLB 19 The Show is once again a contender that is worthy of your time both offline and on. Iteration has paid off for this series in a big way, and itâs nice to see Sony taking chances with new ideas again.

Despite the lack of innovation in Franchise Mode, MLB 19: The Show excels when it comes to the sheer variety of single-player content on offer, while significant improvements to fielding round out the on-field package, making this one of the best baseball games ever. That's not a particularly bold statement considering the series' consistent quality throughout the years, but MLB 19 continues that upward trajectory with its most robust offering yet, guaranteeing another year's worth of excellent baseball.

SIE San Diego Studio continually provides PS4 owners with the definitive baseball experience year in and year out and MLB The Show 19 exemplifies that yet again. Even with features like Franchise and online play remaining relatively the same, MLB The Show 19 introduces two of the best additions to the series in years with the very easy to pick up and play March to October and Moments modes that make the game a real home run. Baseball fans were ready for the MLB season to start up and MLB The Show 19 is a perfect companion to have for the rest of the season and beyond.

MLB The Show 19 continues to reinvent the game of baseball. A handful of additions, along with tweaks to existing modes, make for an excellent entry in this long-running franchise, one that shouldn't be missed by newcomers and long-time fans alike.

Where things get complicated is in between the two. If you’re not inclined to automatically make the switch every year, and have The Show 17 or 18 sitting on your gaming shelf already, you can give this a pass. It’s a fine game, and you would enjoy your time with it, but the same can likely be said when MLB The Show 20 drops, only you’ll probably enjoy that one just a little more.

There are still some legacy issues such as lack of details in certain stadiums, getting some of the ball physics right and the online play. Depending on what mode you focus on, RTTS shines the brightest and March to October is an excellent and varying experience. Diamond Dynasty has enough to keep you coming back for more and this is fueled by the Moments missions. The Show should always be considered as one of the top console exclusive games on the market as MLB The Show 19 is the definitive baseball game of this generation.

When at its best, no one can hold a candle to the authenticity and refined gameplay, perfected over numerous years spent iterating and listening to their audience. My criticisms come from a place of a hardcore fan that wants the development team to aspire to do more than just meeting the status quo. Though I’m disappointed in the overall lack of innovation this season, it can still stand on its own as a fantastic baseball experience. Don’t let my nit-picky ass prevent you from stepping to the plate in what’s undoubtedly the best baseball game ever released.

MLB The Show 19 doesn’t appear all that enticing on paper, but step up to the plate and its gameplay is still pretty much unparalleled. The significant improvements to fielding mean that the series now excels in every discipline, while additions like March to October provide an entertaining way to play in short bursts.

While I managed to get in around 50 hours of play time, I know I’ve yet to scratch the surface of all the new details and improvements. Sony spends more time hyping their other exclusive games like God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man, but their baseball game is every bit as good as their mass-market action tentpole releases. If you have any interest in America’s favorite pastime, you owe it to yourself to step up to the plate with MLB The Show 19. 9/10 gratuitous bat flips

Sony San Diego overhauls almost every single aspect of MLB The Show with this update, with the outstanding March to October and Moments modes leading the way. At least for right now, it seems destined to go down as the best baseball sim of the generation, and maybe as one of the best sports sims as well.

MLB The Show 19 plays very similarly to last year’s game. MLB The Show 19 is also a much-improved version of the game whether you look at in-game mechanics, the variety of game modes, the game modes themselves, or Diamond Dynasty. Whether you are a competitive player, career mode player, or franchise simulator, MLB The Show 19 has something for you. As an added bonus for online players, opening day servers have been running smoothly as well!

MLB The Show 19 is both improved in some important spots and disappointingly unimproved in others that really need love. But though it may not be perfect, it’s still the best baseball game money can buy and well worth any baseball enthusiast’s time.
Caley Roark — Mar 29, 2019
MLB The Show 19's refreshed looks and sound closely replicates real MLB games on TV, thanks to some nice camera angles and graphical touches that emulate broadcasting. The biggest disappointment is Franchise, which continues to be the mode that's left behind. Overall, this is the most compelling version since The Show 12 initially added Diamond Dynasty mode.

MLB the Show 19 has a lot to offer. If someone has a hankering for a new sports game, it is here with easy to understand controls and tips and enough modes to let you quickly get started. If you know what you're in for with the series, then the new March to October and Moments modes will give you chances to see what sports legends' lives were like or take a specific team to victory over the course of a season. If it is all new, you have plenty of quick play, simulation, and extended modes that will let you prove yourself, live the life of a player, manage a team, create a team, and generally succeed. It's a robust game that will keep people in the game throughout 2019 and beyond.

MLB: The Show 19 is a great baseball game. Everything is working like it should on the field and we really enjoy playing matches. Unfortunately, and it's a big one, the overall rating is dragged down by the lack of new features in Franchise Mode and Road to the Show. These are two big game modes and they deserve more love. The two new game modes, Moments and March to October, are, on the other hand, great additions and we hope that they will remain and evolve in the years to come.

MLB The Show 19 takes itself through the paces and comes out improved and enhanced quite well. The game itself is still missing a few features to make it truly potent. The franchise delivers a beautiful, streamlined product each and every year, and 2019 is no exception.
Alan Bell — May 09, 2019
MLB The Show 19 is another fine entry in the series, with Sony San Diego doing what they do best. The new Moments and March to October modes offer some dynamic new ways to play, while the rest of the game finds a strong balance between engaged control for the parts that matter, while offering an autopilot for the things that aren't for everyone.
