Summary
This enhanced version of 2016's Mega dimension Neptunian VII features smoother graphics courtesy of a new engine, a revamped battle system, and a whole new VR experience. Now, their dimensions and yours are connected. Hang out one-on-one with each of the Gamindustri Goddesses, listen to their conversations, and watch as the Goddesses react to you. Gamindustri-a world sitting at the convergence of multiple dimensions. Of these existed the Zero Dimension, a world on the brink of collapse. Zero Dimension's last guardian, Uzume Tennouboshi, waged a war against a mysterious evil known as the Dark CPU. Her desperate cries for help crossed dimensions and reached Neptune, the CPU of Planeptune, who would leave her world to join the fight. Their fateful meeting would open the path to a new adventure. And once their world is saved, they'll join you in yours.

It’s pound for pound the best the series has been, illuminating all of its strong points in a more robust and better-looking package. While a few of these changes won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, fans will appreciate the added interactivity and quality of life improvements. I just have a hard time recommending this if you already beat the original Megadimension VII.
It can be a little too tempting to take a successful game, and just shoehorn odd-fitting tech into it. Merely taking the original Megadimension Neptunia VII, shifting its camera, and slapping a VR sticker onto the packaging would likely have resulted in a much worse game, because it was not originally designed for VR.
Megadimension Neptunia VIIR is much more than a simple re-release of VII with a few VR events tacked on. It’s an excellent overhaul of a game that was already pretty excellent to begin with, and a title that’s filled with so much fun, addictive, and (more often than not) satirical content — both new and old — that you’d be out of your Neppin’ mind to not pick it up. If you’re a pre-existing Neptunia fan, this game was made for you. Literally. But if you aren’t, well, this game’s still good enough that I’d recommend you check it out anyway.
