Ultimately, Mega Man 11 is another rock solid entry in the long running series. The new presentation style and Double Gear system is largely a success, and aside from some particularly nasty areas and enemy placement, the level design is decent. The level of challenge is what fans will have come to expect of the franchise, but unbelievably strict collision detection can result in some harsh losses.
There’s not much here in the way of extras, but those who’d like the chance to showcase their skills to the world have more opportunity here than ever before. Mega Man 11 is more or less exactly what any fan of the series could want in a sequel: the classic experience they know and love with a few modern upgrades thrown in to keep it from feeling stale.
Change can be scary, but it's often a necessity. Capcom's mechanical hero has been fighting the good fight for 30 years, and while many of us may want him to stay the same forever, to do so would ultimately consign his adventures to the history books. Mega Man 11 manages to bring our favorite Blue Bomber back into the modern conversation, and the Double Gear system helps tweak the familiar formula into something that feels fresh even in 2018.
