Summary
In the next chapter of Magicka, players ascend from the ruins of Aldrheim to experience a Midgård almost wiped free of Wizards after the Wizard Wars, with the few that do remain having either gone mad or extremely hostile toward all others.
To rid the world of evil, again, up to four Wizards, and their guide Vlad, will traverse Midgård armed with the next iteration of the famous Magicka dynamic spellcasting system, as players reprise their roles as the most overpowered, unpredictably funny Wizards ever known to fantasy!

Having blasted through the campaign using a combination of local and online players, there's no denying that Magicka 2 can be fun, albeit at times rather fiddly to play. It's not a long campaign, either, with replay value coming from items you can collect and use to alter the experience, as well as a series of challenges and a number of harder difficulty settings - something I stayed well clear of as it's plenty hard enough already, thank you very much.
Magicka 2 gave me a legitimate challenge and showed what a fleshed out magical combat system can look like. It wasn’t challenging in the way a Dark Souls game might be, but more like Halo on Legendary mode with a plentiful number of enemies that can escalate on you in a hurry with each checkpoint feeling like a victory. Magicka 2 offers up some laugh out loud moments too if you don’t speed your way through it with references to Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games, Skyrim and even Papers Please
Pieces Interactive has done a very good job in continuing the Magicka series. While there have been some growing pains, Magicka 2 still manages to be an extraordinary cooperative game when played with the right people. If you have a group of friends that are tired of playing Borderlands and Helldivers, then make sure you give Magicka 2 a spin.
