The title is based on the Japanese comic series Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star). It takes place in a post-apocalyptic reality filled with ruins of cities and radiation-burned deserts. The player assumes the role of a warrior who knows secret martial arts that enable him to tear bodies of his enemies from inside. The campaign concentrates on the city of Eden and its surroundings. The game world is open and in addition to main story missions it features many optional side missions and various minigames. The gameplay focuses mostly on melee combat based on an advanced system that enables the player to perform various attacks and combos. All of that is presented by using a cartoon-like stylization that is very similar to what was shown in the comic.
