Hidden Dragon: Legend is an indie title that offers an initial burst of satisfying combat, but that quickly devolves into a tedious stream of identikit encounters coupled with platforming that feels like a tacked-on afterthought.
While I continue to dive into China’s growing indie scene with genuine joy, Hidden Dragon Legend is not a game I would actually suggest to most people. From a nonsensical story and repetitive combat to terrible platforming and generally ugly animations, there are very few redeeming qualities here. Certainly not enough to make the game worth playing. Maybe this legend was hidden for a reason.
Hidden Dragon Legend is the classic example of a game trying to be bigger than it’s potential budget or development. There is a great idea here marred by too many issues for me to really recommend this to anyone except the hardcore action or indie supporters. There is fun to be had, but it comes with serious caveats.
