However, despite the annoying side-dialogue and the somewhat repetitive missions, GALAK-Z presents players will highly engaging and even strategic gameplay. By letting players use their environments to their advantage, change from a spaceship to a mech, and by giving players the opportunity to let their enemies kill each other off, GALAK-Z manages to separate itself from the rest of the space shooter pack and give fans something fairly unique. If you haven’t already picked it up, I recommend you do so as soon as possible.

Galak-Z: The Dimensional is one of the finest new Roguelikes to grace the PS4. It's devilishly hard, like throw-your-controller hard, but like many other games in the genre, it makes the taste of victory that much sweeter. A fantastic take on Roguelikes that's accompanied by amazing visuals and tough-as-nails gameplay.

In spite of these frustrations, Galak-Z has the heart of a truly compelling shooter. I wish 17-Bit had taken its elements and laid them out in a game with a more natural progression, or added a greater level of variety to Galak-Z's extensive randomness. However, even when the game feels unfair, I couldn't resist returning to these pinpoint-accurate flight controls and tense dogfights.
