All in all Full Throttle is an enjoyable, yet short experience. I beat the game in approximately 5 hours. If you are a fan of point and click adventure games, then you owe it to yourself to play Full Throttle. It’s one of the classics of the genre, and the new remastered version is the best way to experience it.

Full Throttle Remastered is a no-nonsense package that does exactly what it sets out to do by updating the audiovisual experience whilst retaining the original game.

There’s no getting around that Full Throttle is a 22-year-old adventure game and still plays like it. The puzzles are occasionally frustrating. Your character moves at a slow pace, and some of cultural humor is outdated. Still, the quirks of the original game are as attractive today as they were then, and this version does a fine job smoothing out the rough edges, making Full Throttle Remastered a road trip worth taking.

Minor quibbles aside, Full Throttle hits all the right notes as deftly in 2017 as it did in 1995. Not only do its story, voice acting, puzzles, and audiovisual accoutrements hold up, younger fans weaned on Telltale's interactive movies might take to it due to its balance of puzzles and plot.

As a fresh way to revisit an old classic, and as the ideal entry point for players who haven’t yet smacked rival bikers with a two-by-four on the Mine Road or figured out the combination to Old Man Corley’s safe. There are a couple of sticking points for both old and new players, including some technical issues and (especially for the latter) that questionable “adventure game logic” which is anything but logical.

As it stands, Full Throttle Remastered is a perfectly fine way to spend a couple evenings, but all the trappings of a 1995 video game are just under the surface for better or for worse. That’s guaranteed to be a selling point to some people and majorly off-putting to others. For myself? I think I might have enjoyed Full Throttle Remastered even more if I’d played with a guide open the whole time, like a joyride through the nostalgia of other people.

Full Throttle has a great cast of characters and atmosphere, but with its remaining irritating action and timed sequences, bland puzzles, and an unnecessary fresh paint job, the game carries its old flaws to a new generation, and ushers some new ones in as well. Luckily, with the seamless swap to its already-fantastic original pixel art (whose immense detail is commendable, even in 2017), clicking through Full Throttle's charming love letter to wheels is still pleasant.

Gorgeous pixel art work, great soundtrack, and excellent script and dialogue. The actual story is paper thin, with an ending that comes out of nowhere. Very short, with simplistic puzzles. Awful action sequences and lots of wasted characters.

Whether you're looking to revisit a title from the heyday of the point-and-click adventure or coming to Full Throttle for the first time to see just why gamers of a certain age keep banging on about it, Full Throttle Remastered is the LucasArts adventure that feels most comfortable in the present day. With a focus on characters and story over complex puzzles, it feels like a premonition of the direction adventure games were to take over the next two decades, and it's a pleasure to see it get a new coat of paint and take to the road for one last ride.

Full Throttle Remastered is essentially the perfect rework of a classic. Barring a couple of minor issues, LucasArts’ old title has been brought up to modern standards by Double Fine, boasting a brand new look that gives a lot of vibrant detail while maintaining the things that earned Full Throttle its reputation in the first place.

After decades, this classic adventure still holds its own in comparison with modern games, as the original story includes plenty of witty jokes and funny references, the characters have personalities that are emphasised some excellent voice work, and the timeless surroundings and classical core story elements make for an unforgettable adventure with entertaining puzzles that'll suit all tastes.

Full Throttle Remastered gets the highest compliment an adventure game from 1995 could get: it did not need to be remastered. It is a pretty short game, which wraps itself up at breakneck speeds at the climax, but it is definitely a ride worth taking at least once. Best to play it in the classic mode and take in the atmosphere from a bygone era. Some parts are a bit of a pain, but it is all worth it for the ending.
