Continue your adventure through three new story paths. Play as Fang and his gang as you face off against a new, evil organization, meet new fairies and fencers, and collect the furies scattered across the world. Each path leads to a different outcome, so choose wisely. The turn-based RPG battle system allows you to transform during battle and defeat enemies quickly. Alongside new content, you can now have up to 6 characters on the battlefield at a time.

It relies on traditional RPG elements to feel familiar to fans of the genre but brings enough new material to keep it from feeling generic. The character building system with WP was surprisingly engaging and the Fairize command does add a fun component to battle. It doesn’t reach the level of greatness of say Chrono Trigger or Persona 4, but there is enough going for it where it is worthwhile experience for fans of the genre.
For the fans of that series and its comedic tone, you will find the same style of comfort here. For newcomers, if you can put up with how contrived the story can be, it may be worth a shot thanks to the exclusive content. And with the way things end up, we may see more Fairy Fencer F in the future.
If I stopped after my first playthrough, I wouldn’t be recommending it. With two under my belt, I recognize I could have had a great time with Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force had I just done the opposite of what all the characters told me to do. It’s quite the Jekyll and Hyde situation, one I can easily recommend to Compile Heart fans, but only endorse for non-fans on the stipulation they don’t listen to Tiara and Eryn.
