Experience the next generation of VR combat with Evasion, an intense sci-fi bullet-hell shooter. Fight solo or team up as you face legions of enemies in an action-packed Story Campaign or the challenging Survival Mode. After decades of peace, the lethal Optera have laid siege to a vital human mining colony. You are a member of the Vanguard, an elite task force sent to investigate what happened to the colonists, and uncover why the Optera would reopen a conflict that nearly destroyed both races.

Evasion shows what it means to build a solid and fun frenetic shooter in VR and do it right. It will undoubtedly provide a platform for the future of virtual reality game development to build off of, as long as they can get an escape pod off of these boring brown and grey planets.
Evasion does a lot right. The chaos and intensity of combat is second-to-none in the VR shooter space from what I’ve scene, particularly when compared to other cooperative VR shooters. You’ll always be moving and dodging fire both physically and with in-game smooth locomotion at all times. There isn’t as much progression across the game in terms of class abilities and leveling up as I’d have liked, but the core gameplay, boss fights, and level design are so strong I didn’t mind as much.
It’s unlikely to leave as much of an impact as Farpoint did, but Evasion offers a competent and entertaining shoot ‘em up campaign for those looking to bring devastation to the next alien race. Alongside a horde mode that’ll have you coming back for more, this is one experience that PlayStation VR fanatics won’t want to miss.
