There’s a lot of room to grow, however, as the Career Mode and Create-A-Fighter limit players to only male fighters, and the lack of game modes also leaves a hefty damper on the experience as a whole. The gameplay of EA’s UFC is a superb starting point, but the game’s content needs more, and more inclusive, options.
A fresh start for MMA fighting games on consoles, EA Sports UFC is a solid second crack at the sport for EA that still has acres of room for improvement. It looks remarkable, but it's a pretty face with a big black eye. EA Sports UFC's lack of options and gameplay finesse mar the overall package, but we can't wait to see what EA Sports UFC has in store next year.
EA Sports UFC may not be as fully fleshed out as UFC Undisputed 3 was, but it's a splendid starting point for what could be a powerhouse franchise for the team. The gameplay dials most of the right numbers, even with the simplified ground game, and the presentation nails the sport's authenticity, right down to that painful tap-out. It'll obviously get places in a few years, but for now, it's got just the right amount of appeal to knock fans out.
