That said, if you’ve not played it before, I do highly recommend it. As a game, I still believe it holds up tremendously, having aged quite well and ably capable of providing a meaty action experience. It’s my sincere hope that, one day, we get an all-new Darksiders and the series eventually gets the attention it deserves. That day may never come, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Darksiders II was one of the more memorable titles from the previous generation, with breathtaking, mythical settings supported by interesting characters, fascinating lore, and snappy gameplay. This very decent Deathinitive Edition includes all of the DLC and commendably improves the assets and lighting effects, but it gets slightly cut down by our scythe of criticism for minor glitches and framerate woes.
Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition brings the original’s diverse world, interesting dungeons, and great loot system to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Sure, the story is dull, and there aren’t a whole lot of original ideas at play here, but the vast expanse of the adventure should please anyone who missed out on it the first time around.
