Carnival Games VR has a decent selection of attractions with a few standouts. Although, its ticket based reward system is broken and a good number of games have inconsistent star requirements. While Climbing Wall stands tall above the rest, there’s some fun to be had in games like Funnel Cake Stacker that tasks you to hold as many projectiles thrown at you with the two disks in your hands.
Tracking isn’t perfect in all games, and the social multiplayer aspects could be built out a little more, but the core accomplishments of Carnival Games VR demonstrate at a psychological level why VR is a fundamentally different kind of experience from flatscreen 2D gaming.
Carnival Games VR is exactly what you expect. After you spend an hour or so collecting tickets to unlock all of the attractions, you have little reason to return to this whimsical world unless it’s with your friends or with your kids. There is no structural multiplayer support — a huge missed opportunity — and the PS VR tracking issues hinder an otherwise silly and fun experience.
