New World Order is light on Batman action, and hints that we may not see the Caped Crusader at all in the next episode. It ends on a shocking cliffhanger (something Telltale continues to do well) with two huge reveals that should get Batman fans talking. The twist behind Children of Arkham is a good one that I didn’t see coming. If you thought it had ties to the comic book storyline Court of Owls, keep guessing. I like where this is going.
New World Order continues the slow burn of events that Batman: The Telltale Series has presented so far, only ramping up the intensity in the final half of the episode. It’s got a few bright spots that don’t fully light the room on a unique Batman story, bits of setup providing very little payoff among the political drama and typical Batman flak.
If they can fix the frame rate issues and make the remaining episodes a lot less “railroading”, then there's no reason the entire season has to be a waste. Unfortunately, ranked against past Telltale titles, this is too dark a knight.
